Mobile Clinics

Mobile clinics are among the most dynamic projects of Ukraine is Europe. It is important to emphasize how difficult and prioritized access to healthcare is for civilian populations facing war. Since the onset of Russia’s illegal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine, entire regions have been subjected to daily bombardments, anguish, adversity, and scarcity. Many cities and villages have been destroyed or are threatened to be. Thousands of families have had to flee exposed areas. Territories near the Russian border or the front line are particularly affected by the exodus. Thus, in the eastern regions of Ukraine, many civilians live or survive in almost complete isolation. They are often elderly people, attached to their homes, for whom leaving is impossible, and who find themselves particularly vulnerable, helpless, and alone, especially when public buildings, including hospitals, are physically destroyed, and public services, in general, are disorganized.

From the founding of Ukraine is Europe in the autumn of 2022, Arthur Frantchouk von Manstein understood the urgency of providing medical and humanitarian assistance to civilians. They also observed that this medical aid is often provided in urban centers, in fixed clinics, and that visits are not made at home. In short, rural populations, lacking means of transportation, isolated, and living close to combat zones, are often left behind. That is why the creation of mobile clinics is one of the major initiatives of Ukraine is Europe. Arthur Frantchouk von Manstein also benefit from extensive experience in the field. They transported significant volumes of humanitarian aid to Kyiv in the early weeks of the conflict, when the capital was surrounded by Russian troops.

Thanks to its sponsors (Caritas Alsace and Caritas Kramatorsk, Spes Kharkiv, Œuvre d’Orient…) as well as donations from individuals, the NGO procures used ambulances in France, adapts them to the terrain, and equips them with necessary materials (equipment, walkers, crutches, medications, various packages…). The mobile clinics are then transported to the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions and deployed near the front line. As for the personnel, they consist of Ukrainian or international doctors and nurses, volunteers or employees.

In eighteen months, five mobile clinics have been put into operation. In addition, eleven vehicles specially adapted for the evacuation of the wounded have been donated to partner hospitals in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. In total, Ukraine is Europe provides regular medical care to more than 1,300 patients, as well as social assistance, through its close collaboration with the administrations of various localities.

Mobile clinics also seek to provide moral support to these populations. A human presence, warmth, and fraternity, dictated by the Christian value of Charity.
